Lake Chatuge Lake House Renovation
We purchased and gutted a 1960’s ranch that was 1750 square feet and turned it into a 3200 square foot house that is so awesome and comfortable and we are SO happy! It was a huge process and we started just two weeks before Covid shut down the entire country! Ugh… made things slow and time consuming but worth every moment. I am happy to share a few of the before and after photos so you can see what we did. ENJOY!
Master Bedroom #1 - Main Level Before and After Images
While we made a huge amount of changes to the interior of this house, (everything gone!), we feel a certain kinship with the previous owner. She built the house and lived here until she moved into a nursing home near the end of her life. She was a big advocate of rescue dogs and fostered many dogs over the course of her life. We have too! All of our family dogs have come from shelters and I know she is smiling down at us now and happy with her home’s new owners. :)

We took out a section of the kitchen wall between the kitchen and family room giving it a more open concept feel. You can now be in the kitchen and see what is on tv or be a part of the conversation in the family room. It is so nice not to be cut off from the life going on in the house!
Bedroom #3 - Queen on Main Floor
Basement or Terrace Level - Before & After
Basement (or Terrace level) was all unfinished cinder block and exposed ceilings and metal beams. We divided the room up into several very useful spaces. This was 1600 square feet of space and we added some walls to create a kids room to sleep 7, a tv room and a area for ping pong and games and a dart board. There is also a locked storage area (owners only) and a locked linen closet. The bathroom and laundry room were totally redone as well.

What is next??
Now… the inside is exactly how we want it… a huge transformation…. we have started work on the exterior which needs A LOT Of help. Full disclosure… if you rent this house now, the inside will be lovely and comfortable. The exterior needs a lot of work!! Phase two… stay tuned!
