Walking The Chatuge Dam Trail
Are you interested in a lovely, easy and flat 3 mile walk overlooking Lake Chatuge?
The Chatuge Dam Trail is managed by TVA in partnership with Clay County Park. It is a 3 mile round drip trail and is a great walk for dogs, rollerbladers, small children, strollers, bike riders, walkers, joggers … yup… everyone. ;) One end of the dam is a parking lot overlooking the spillway and the other end is a campground with lots of shady spots as it winds through trees and trails beside a campground. HINT: If you go around sunset then you can catch the gloriously beautiful sunset over the dam casting its reflection over the waters of lake Chatuge. You can also catch the sunset from a boat on Lake Chatuge.
WHERE: It can be accessed from Clay County Park or Chatuge Dam Road. This trail is on the Chatuge Dam Reservation which is located about off of HWY 64 south of Hayesville, NC (Myers Chapel Road to Chatuge Dam Road).
